On the evening of the 8th of October 2026, we made our way to Manchester where Today's Media hosted their British Wills & Probate Awards.

Three people, directors of Fidelis Legal Services, left is Helen Claydon, middle is Ian Peace, and right is Andy Townsend, all in attendance at the British Wills & Probate Awards.
Directors, Helen Claydon, Ian Peace and Andy Townsend at the previous British Wills & Probate Awards.

The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel barely managed to hold everyone at the British Wills and Probate Awards 2026. We were there among some incredibly industry talent with a finalist of our own.

Zoe Phillips, who previously won Highly Commended Paralegal of the Year at the Modern Law Private Client Awards 2026, was a finalist amongst other exceptional individuals. To make it to the shortlist of One to Watch Practitioner of the Year, you had to have shown a high level of development in your particular specialism, and to both commit to your craft and service to clients. As her clients and colleagues can attest, she was more than worthy to make it alongside other fantastic talent in the industry.

Our sister company, Simpler Law, made it as finalists in three separate categories which were Estate Planning Firm of the Year - Large, Pioneers of the Year, and Unsung Hero of the Year which boasted Tricia Mistry as finalist. There has been much to celebrate as of late in the office.

Haig Legal Group, in which we are a part of, was an official category sponsor for the awards. Sponsoring the highly esteemed Contentious Practitioner of the Year, a well done is due for the winner, Andrew Learmonth of New Square Chambers, and highly commended, Scott Taylor Edwards of Moore Barlow. A couple months running up to the awards, there was excitement building on the group's LinkedIn page and the evening itself proved to be just as delightful as promised with comedian Jason Manford as host.

While Kimpton Clocktower Hotel was an impressive venue, the awards will be moving to fit the demand of a larger venue to the grand Victoria Warehouse. Even more exciting, is that it will be the British Wills and Probate Awards 10th Anniversary, which is no small feat as we can relate, having reached over a decade ourselves this past year.

It was an honour to be there amongst other industry talent, and we can assure you that we had a great time.
